The Surgery Center of Lawton was founded in 1996 by 4 local physicians, Dale B. Smith, D.O. (Medical Director), Bryan L. Cain, DPM, and Stephen Snell, M.D., remain as current owners. The mission of this group of physicians was to provide this community and the surrounding area with a high quality outpatient surgery center. Thus the Surgery Center of Lawton became the first multispeciality outpatient surgery center in southern Oklahoma.

The physicians are committed to providing an environment that would allow the patient and their families a facility with the best surgical technology, but yet in a more comfortable and affordable environment compared to available hospital care. Furthermore, the physicians also wanted a facility in which they had control over the scheduling of their patients, choice of surgical equipment and supplies they used, and a hand-picked staff to care for their patients with excellence and compassion. The physician owners wanted to create a modern state-of-the-art outpatient surgery center where they could provide the latest in surgical procedures with safety and excellent results, while preserving personal and compassionate care lacking in many hospitals today.

Over the past many years since 1996, the Surgery Center of Lawton has been able to meet and exceed the expectations of both the patients and the physicians. The staff at the Surgery Center of Lawton is a highly skilled physician- selected professional team, each with many years of experience. Several, including the administrator, have been with us since our opening. Each staff member takes great pride in their contribution to patient care and the results are apparent in our outcomes and patient surveys. Our patient and physician satisfaction surveys are among the top in the nation. Over 99% of patients surveyed report that they would prefer to return to the Surgery Center of Lawton for future surgical care.
The Surgery Center of Lawton is AAAHC Accredited, Medicare Certified, and members of the Association of Ambulatory Surgery Centers. The Surgery Center of Lawton is the only outpatient surgery center in the area that is state accredited for overnight patient care. We partner with our private nurse anesthetists, Roger Hanley and John Dew over the past 20 years and provide the best in anesthetic car for our patients. Our Administrator, Starla Ross, is a member of the Board of Directors for the Oklahoma Ambulatory Surgery Center Association.

While serving the community of Lawton-Fort Sill, approximately 60% of our patients choose to travel from surrounding communities for the quality of care available only at the Surgery Center of Lawton. We are pleased to be able to serve many patients from Duncan, Altus, Chickasha, and other smaller communities. With the average time spent at the center of just over 3 hours, even the short drive to and from the center, allows for a quick return to their own homes maximizing patient comfort and convenience.
